Ten shootings, one fatal, mar Halloween night in Northwest

A series of Halloween night shootings concentrated in the Columbia Heights and Georgia Avenue areas of Northwest D.C. left nine wounded and one dead with no suspects arrested as of Friday, The Washington Post reported.

"We have no leads," Assistant Police Chief Diane Groomes told the Post. "We need the community to step up and call us."

The only death in the shootings was of David Mayo, 38, at 12:50 a.m. early Thursday at Park Road N.W., the Post reported. Two others were wounded in the incident.

In another incident earlier that evening, people opened fire from inside a van at 14th and Harvard streets, wounding four outside.

In addition to the shootings, there were 18 robberies reported in the District Wednesday and a carjacking that resulted in police killing the suspect, the Post reported.
