Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2007 June 27 - July 1 and July 4 - 8 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The National Mall Metro: Smithsonian (blue and orange lines) Celebrating its 41st summer on the Mall, this year's Folklife Festival will focus on Northern Ireland and the Mekong River Basin, which comprises Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and the Chinese province of Yunnan.. Six hundred participants, including traditional artisans, cooks and performers, will showcase the different cultures and their contributions to Jamestown, Va. The event is free. Portraits of Sandra Day O'Connor National Portrait Gallery 11:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Through Oct. 8 Metro: Gallery Place-Chinatown (red, yellow and green lines) Portraits honoring the retirement of the first woman on the Supreme Court are featured in this exhibit, which will continue until late in the fall.
