AU to host Special Olympics Tournament
Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity will host the second annual Special Olympics Unified Bocce Ball Tournament this Friday on the quad, according to a Phi Sigma Sigma press release.
According to the press release, members of Greek life will form teams with the Special Olympians for the tournament, which will begin at 11 a.m.
Last year, over 100 new Olympians became involved in Special Olympic programs throughout the D.C. area as a result of the Bocce tournament, according to the press release. Over 100 Special Olympians from different organizations within D.C. are expected to attend the event.

WAMU host to receive honorary degree
Diane Rehm, host of WAMU 88.5 and National Public Radio's "The Diane Rehm Show," will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the Virginia Theological Seminary, according to a WAMU press release.
"As an Episcopalian for my entire adult life, I am deeply honored by this award," Rehm said, according to the press release. "I regard Virginia Theological Seminary as one of the outstanding religious educational institutions in the country; therefore, this degree means a tremendous amount to me."
Rehm started her radio career in 1973 as an assistant producer for WAMU 88.5 and in 1979 was selected to host WAMU 88.5's local morning talk show, which was named after her in 1984, the press release stated.
The Virginia Theological Seminary gives honorary degrees "in recognition of faithful and notable service, creative and innovative leadership in parish ministry, overseas missions, academia and ecumenical, social, diocesan and national church ministries," according to the press release. Past recipients of these honorary degrees include former Secretary of State Colin Powell and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
