Katrina: Mississippi Women Remember - Photographs by Melody Golding Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays, noon-5 p.m. National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave. N.W. Metro: Metro Center (red, blue and orange lines) Fifty-three photographs by photographer Melody Golding document Hurricane Katrina's devastation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the determination of Gulf residents. The exhibit also includes 43 stories by members of the Mississippi State Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The exhibit is free and open to the public. "Apocalypse Now" 6:30 p.m. Goethe-Intstitute, l814 Seventh St. N.W. Metro: Gallery Place-Chinatown (red, green and yellow lines) See Francis Ford Coppola's famous war film about the Vietnam War screened as part of the Goethe-Institute's Wagner in Hollywood Series. Flamenco Night 8 p.m. Caf? Citron, 1343 Connecticut Ave. N.W. Metro: Dupont Circle (red line) Every Monday night is Flamenco Night at this small two-level Latin lounge that also features salsa and international dance on weekends. National Cherry Blossom Festival Tidal Basin Stage Cultural Performances Through April 15 Begins daily at noon Tidal Basin Stage at the Jefferson Memorial Metro: Smithsonian (blue and orange lines) In honor of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which lasts from March 31 to April 15, there will be daily performances featuring music, dance and song by local, national and international performing artists on the Tidal Basin Stage at the Jefferson Memorial. The 41st Annual Smithsonian Kite Festival - Tako Age Taikai 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Washington Monument Grounds, Constitution Avenue and 17th Street N.W. Metro: Smithsonian (blue and orange lines) Build your own kite at home and enter the handmade kite competition, visit booths that demonstrate Japanese kite-making and the history of Japanese kites. Witness the Shirone giant kites in the air and watch the Hot Tricks Showdown and the traditional Rokkaku battle. The Kite Festival begins at 10 a.m. with a special opening ceremony. National Walk for Epilepsy 8:45-11 a.m. National Mall Metro: Smithsonian (blue and orange lines) The National Walk for Epilepsy is to raise awareness and funds for more research toward a cure for over 3 million Americans who suffer from epilepsy. The prewalk rally begins at 8:45 a.m. on the National Mall. The 5K walk begins at 9:15 a.m. at the Corner of Constitution Avenue and 10th Street behind the National Museum of Natural History. At 11 a.m., there will be a postwalk celebration on the National Mall. Registration fees are $35 and late registration lasts from 7:30-8:45 a.m. on the morning of the race.
