The AU chapter of the Collegiate Society of America held its first two official meetings as a new campus club in the past two weeks.
The club is a "nonpartisan political organization whose purpose is to foster open communication of political and social issues, while rising above the partisan rhetoric and influences that often become the only method of communicating ideas," according to a press release provided by the club.
At the meetings all students are encouraged to voice their opinion on a topic, which changes every two weeks. The group's first topic was based around the merits of various sources of information.
Students involved in the club said it provides a venue to debate and voice their opinion.
"Regardless of party affiliation, there is right and there is wrong and this group allows us to recognize that," Joseph Alfred, a sophomore in the School of Public Affairs and member of CSA, said.
All students are welcome to attend the next meeting, which will be March 19 at 9:30 p.m. in Ward 101. The topic will be federal campaign finance reform.
