George Washington's 275th Birthday

George Washington's Mount Vernon Estates and Gardens, 3200 George Washington Memorial Parkway, Mount Vernon, Va.

The event will be held 16 miles south of Washington, D.C., and eight miles south of Old Town Alexandria at the southern end of the George Washington Memorial Parkway at Mount Vernon Estate. Celebrate George Washington's birthday by visiting his home and burial site for free. During the birthday celebration enjoy breakfast with "George Washington," pull up a hay bale, chat with the Father of Our Country and watch "America's Smallest Hometown Parade."

"Cinderella" by the Bolshi Ballet

Feb. 21-23, 7:30 p.m.

Russia's Bolshi Ballet will retell this classic story set to choreographer Yuri Prokofiev score. The Moscow Times calls it "a gentle, dream-like retelling of the familiar fairy tale, with commendable choreography and an enlivening array of original twists and turns."

Theater and Dance: The ECHO Project

National Museum of the American Indian, Fourth Street and Independence Avenue S.W.

Metro: L'Enfant Plaza (blue, green, yellow and orange lines); exit Maryland Avenue/Smithsonian Museums

The Wampanoag of Massachusetts, Native Hawaiians from Hawaii, the Yup'ik and Inupiat from Alaska and the Choctaw of Mississippi share stories, music, dance and drama from their respective cultures. These performances are part of the ECHO (Education through Cultural and Historical Organizations) Project, a storytelling and performing arts group celebrating cultures from different regions of the U.S. Admission is free and open to the public.

"Don Quixote" by the Bolshi Ballet

The Bolshi Ballet will perform a retelling of Cervantes' tale of romance, chivalry and bittersweet emotion. The production displays what the Bolshi Ballet does best: "grandiose technical feats, juicy folk dancing and a stage full of characters so vividly realized you feel you could sit and chat with them," according to The Washington Post. Tickets cost $47 to $125.

Washington Reflections Dance Company: Black History Month Celebration

Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 25 at 4 p.m.

The Washington Reflections Dance Company celebrates Black History Month through an original program of athletic and musical ballet, as well as modern dance in remembrance of the lives and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks and Aretha Franklin. Tickets cost $15 for students.
