Undergraduate Senate confirms three positions
The Undergraduate Senate confirmed the appointments of two new senators and a new deputy director of design for the Student Government on Sunday.
Sarah Weinstein, a freshman in the School of International Studies, filled the vacant Class of 2010 seat, and Adrian Ghisoiu, a senior in the School of Public Affairs, filled the vacant Class of 2007 seat. The new senators said student involvement is an important issue they would like to work on for this term.
Ghisoiu said he would like to figure out a way to communicate with students living off-campus regarding on-campus events.
Weinstein said she would like to "help motivate students" and would focus on academics within her capacity in the Senate.
Brittany Boyd, a senior in the School of Communication, was appointed deputy director of design, where she will help with publicity for Student Government events, including designing posters and ads for publication.
The next meeting of the Undergraduate Senate, open to the public, will be next Sunday at 2:30 in Kogod 118.

Kogod prof ranked as top publishing faculty
H. Kent Baker, a professor of finance in the Kogod School of Business, was recently recognized as one of the top business publishing faculty members in the country, according to a KSB press release.
Baker was ranked in the publication Advances in Financial Education, "A 45-Year Study of Finance Scholars' Publications in Business Ethics Journals." Authors ranked Baker as the ninth most prolific finance publishing faculty member, according to the press release.
In the survey, the authors analyzed 23 journals dealing with business ethics to determine which writers made the greatest difference, the press release said.
According to the press release, Baker was previously recognized for his writing this year when he published "Class Consciousness Pays: Characteristics of Index Funds with Diverse Expenses Ratios," which was nominated for the best index-related research paper for the William F. Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards.
