National brief: Divorced couple divide house with wall

Workers have built a court-order wall in the home of a New York City couple who are going through divorce proceedings, according to the Associated Press.

Simon and Chana Taub, whose two-year-long divorce case has been dubbed "The War of the Roses," both refuse to vacate the three-story rowhouse they share in Brooklyn's Borough Park. While the couple also owns another house just down the street, neither has agreed to leave their primary residence, according to the AP.

After Chana threw Simon out of the house, she went to court. A judge ordered the building of a wall in the house in August of 2005, but the order was stayed while Chana appealed.

"It's my house," Simon said. "And emotionally, in my age, I want to be in my house!"

An appeals court later agreed with the ruling, claiming it was a "novel concept." Simon moved in after work on the wall was completed in December, according to the AP.
