The Undergraduate Senate passed two bills at its meeting yesterday, one to improve community relations with Aramark employees and one to allocate additional money to the College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Council.
School of International Service Senator Rosie Scott sponsored the Aramark employee bill, which gives Aramark employees the option of being featured on a poster as a way to better inform students of who is working for them, Scott said.
The bill to allocate money to the CAS Undergraduate Council account added $400 to the council's funds. Previously, the council had been allocated $200.
Class of 2010 Senator Georgette Spanjich said CAS is hoping to plan a variety of activities for the year and will use the money to see what programming they are capable of and to put CAS on a "level playing field with other councils."
John Cipriani, a sophomore in the School of Public Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences, was unanimously approved to fill the vacant Class of 2009 seat. Five seats continue to remain vacant.
"I am very interested in helping out in any way I can with Student Government," Cipriani said.
Cipriani said he hopes to enable university clubs and organizations to use PayPal to sell things online so that musical groups like On a Sensual Note, for which he serves as the music director, will be able to promote themselves better by selling their CDs online.
The Undergraduate Senate also approved the appointment of Sarah Lehar, a sophomore in the School of Public Affairs, as the director of the Outreach Committee.
The committee was created to facilitate dialogue between the SG and other clubs and organizations and between clubs and organizations in general.
"If SG is more involved, hopefully there will be more involvement with the student body," Lehar said.
The committee will sort out scheduling difficulties between club events and will also help facilitate co-sponsorship of events so they can be larger and have more publicity.
The final Undergraduate Senate meeting of the semester will be held Dec. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in Kogod 118.
