A new report released by the U.S. Census Bureau shows black and Hispanic families in the D.C. region are more likely to own their homes when compared to national figures, according to The Washington Post.
Most notably, about 63 percent of all immigrants own their own homes, according to The Post, especially Asian and Hispanic immigrants.
"It says a lot about the upward mobility of Hispanics," William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, told The Post. "Washington is not only an example of a metropolitan area with melting pot suburbs, but it has melting pot suburbs where immigrants are achieving the American dream"
