Plans to expand the Metro through Tyson's Corner to Dulles International Airport will be delayed for at least a year, according to The Washington Post.
Construction, originally slated to begin later this year, has been pushed back to 2008 or later, The Post reported.
Officials cite the five-month review of a tunnel option that would connect Tyson's Corner to the orange Metro line as the main cause of the delay, The Post reported. Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine decided in September to veto the tunnel proposal after it became clear that the costs of the tunnel could surpass the $4 billion budget, The Eagle previously reported.
The Tyson's Corner leg is expected to be open in 2012, with a route to Loudoun County following in 2015.
