North Korea conducted its first nuclear test successfully today, according to North Korea's Central News Agency, Reuters reported.
According to the Associated Press, South Korea's news agency Yonhap reported that defense officials said the weapons were tested at 10:36 a.m. in Hwaderi. Tremors were felt in South Korea following the test, Reuters reported.
North Korean officials reported the underground test was conducted without radiocative leaks, according to the AP.
North Korea accused South Korea of committing provocations by firing warning shots over the weekend, according to CNN. However, South Korea said the shots were warnings to a group of five North Korean troops attempting to cross the border.
At the time of the report, neither Japanese, Chinese nor U.S. officials had issued comments on the tests.
