Arrest made in Duquesne shootings
Authorities arrested Brittany Jones, a sophomore at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Tuesday in connection with a recent shooting incident that reportedly involved five members of the school basketball team.
Reports indicate Jones is facing charges of reckless endangerment, carrying a firearm without a license and criminal conspiracy after she allegedly helped six armed men enter a school dance where the shooting took place, according to the AP.
One of the men became upset that Jones was conversing with a basketball player. The shooting allegedly occurred following the dance as the basketball players returned to their dorms. Five players were shot, and one is in critical condition, according to WTAE TV in Pittsburgh.
Princeton eliminates early decision
Princeton University announced Monday it will not accept early decision applications for those students applying for the 2008 fall semester, according to The Chronicle for Higher Education.
This decision follows that of Harvard College. The Eagle reported last week that Harvard officials decided to eliminate early admission programs, which they felt discouraged poor and minority students from applying because they could be unfamiliar with the application process and did not have the benefit of comparing financial aid packages.
Princeton officials said they based their decision on the same reasoning, according to The Chronicle.
