See Citizen Cope perform live with Alice Smith at the 9:30 Club. Citizen Cope is touring in promotion of his third album, titled "Every Waking Moment." Cope is touring with New York singer-songwriter Alice Smith, who is known for her operatic mix of indie pop and rhythm and blues. Admission is $28. D.C. Shorts Film Festival presents its third annual event showcasing 94 short films from 19 different countries. The showcase goes from Sept. 14-21 with different films shown at various hours of the day. LunaFest's Sept. 21 show will showcase films made by or about women with the event's tickets' benefiting the Breast Cancer Fund and the Mautner Project. Sound Tribe Sector 9, or STS9, is an entirely instrumental jam band that is known for their frequent and explosive live performances. Audience members who bring at least four canned foods will receive a free band poster. The canned food will be donated to the Conscious Alliance, a non-profit organization that coordinates food drives at art and music venues across the country. Admission is $21. This Chicago Cartoon Art Museum exhibit features 80 political cartoons from around the world. The exhibit includes editorial cartoons from newspapers from Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, Mexico and Canada, which portray political critiques of American policy. The second part of the exhibit features Political Resistance posters by local D.C. cartoonist Mike Flugennock. The exhibit is free.
