Ben Folds to rock Bender Arena
The Student Union Board officially announced to the AU community Wednesday that Ben Folds will appear in Bender Arena on Nov. 15. Tickets, which will go on sale in October, will be $5 through Student Activities. Tickets will also be available for non-students through Ticketmaster and will cost $30.
"I'm really excited for it," said SUB Director George Eveleth. "It should be a great show."
Sculpture studio converted to classroom space
Over the summer, minor construction took place on AU's campus.
The Watkins building, which was a former sculpture studio, was transformed into classrooms, according to American Weekly. All together, eight new classrooms were created in the building with advanced technology, including updated audio-visual equipment.
Beside classroom construction, there is an ongoing steam pipe replacement project. This project is intended to save money on energy costs and will cause the road around Leonard Hall to be closed for one month beginning in mid-September.
Radio station to hear student suggestions
WVAU will begin broadcasting Sept. 18. The student-run campus radio station broadcasts over the Internet and features a variety of musical genres.
"We get the newest music from record companies that is available for the [disk jockeys] to play," said Ethan Meick, WVAU's assistant music director and a sophomore in the School of International Service. "The DJs have final say in what is played, but you can instant message the DJs at RadioWVAU and request whatever song you prefer to hear." For more information, visit WVAU.org.
