World brief: Canadian intellectual released from Middle East prison

Ramin Jahanbegloo, an Iranian-Canadian writer, was released from the notorious Evin prison in Tehran, according to CNN.com.

The Evin prison became infamous when Zahra Kazemi, a fellow Iranian-Canadian intellectual, died after she received a blow to the head, although prison officials initially reported she died of a stroke, CNN.com reported.
