The Eagle

Letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

In the April 3, 2006 edition of The Eagle, your collective editorial maw misrepresented the joint Boisseau-Vidulich case against Ashley Mushnick.

Simply, your assertion that the Board of Elections found against Mushnick for "exterior" shots of MGC is a complete fabrication. In the complaint Vidulich and I submitted, we identified three interior areas where team Mushnick filmed their video; the couches on the second floor of MGC, just outside the campus store within MGC, and in an unspecified bathroom that was not disputed by Mushnick's council as being in MGC.

At no time during the BOE hearing was any mention given to any events occurring outside of MGC.

Despite my great distress with your editorial flotsam that tens will read, I was thoroughly entertained by your strategic retreat at the opinion's conclusion. The Eagle states that "even if Mushnick broke a few rules." going on to say something absurdly aggrandizing. The "even if" clause made me believe at first that this was part of the April Fools Day section. Surely the redoubtable Eagle, which proclaimed Mushnick's innocence just a paragraph above, is not conceding any ground!

Of course, the timing of said editorial is apropos to voting in the election cycle. In the future, the BOE should diligently consider if The Eagle counts as campaign material if your publication continues to edit out writers factual statements, with the intent to mislead students.

On April 5, 2006 Vidulich submitted a complaint against Mushnick again. Per the BOE's initial ruling against Mushnick, no active/passive campaigning was allowed on Wednesday past 10 a.m. Passive campaigning includes posters, door signs, window signs, and paid advertisements. All of the above forms of campaigning took place on Wednesday past 10AM. The BOE found against Mushnick yet again. The BOE, which your piece decries, took the highly unusual action of only reprimanding Mushnick for her flagrant and repeated violations.

These BOE actions have proved The Eagle right in one sense, the SG needs to be shook-up and its corrupted organs eviscerated. That should begin immediately after Mushnick takes the throne.

XOXO, Rob Boisseau
