Iraqi minister was paid CIA informant

Former Iraqi Foreign minister Naji Sabri was a paid informant of the CIA in the run-up to the Iraq war, according to the New York Times.

Sabri, whose contact was established through a French intelligence intermediary, gave the CIA critical information about Iraqi WMD programs.

Sabri's told the CIA that Saddam Hussein wanted to obtain a nuclear weapon, but had none at the time. He also told the CIA that Iraq had no "real weapons program."

These statements conflict with the United States National Intelligence Estimate of 2002, which claimed Iraq had "reconstituted its nuclear program," and had a working biological weapons program.

Sabri's info about Iraq's chemical weapons programs closely mirrored U.S. claims, saying Iraq had stockpiled chemical weapons to use against any invaders.

Release of Windows Vista delayed

Windows Vista, the upcoming version of Microsoft's Windows operating system will be delayed until January 2007, the company announced Tuesday, according to USA TODAY.

Microsoft also said the new system will be available to corporate buyers in November. The delay will also allow Microsoft to put the new system in PCs to be purchased during the holiday season.

Mixed reactions came with the announcement. Helwett-Packard Executive Vice President Todd Bradley said he supports the delay.

"A January launch of Windows Vista allows us to execute in a consistent way throughout the holiday," said Bradley.

Others feel upgrades will be difficult to sell due to current customer satisfaction with Windows. Windows Vista was originally planned for a 2004 release, but Microsoft scaled back their original versions of the system, leaving many analysts unexcited about the new system.
