Public Safety selects new ticket management
Public safety hired Complus as its new ticket management company to "improve ticket writing and collection procedures" said Tony Newman, director of risk management and transportation services.
"The last company was not as effective as we liked it to be," Newman said. "[Complus] has a better ability to identify plates and a better process to manage ticket collection."
This week new tickets will be issued. With the new tickets, students can pay their tickets online.
Newman said that the goal of the university is for "everyone to pay for a permit and put it on his or her car. I would be ecstatic."
"It isn't fair that some students pay for parking and others don't," Newman said.
When students are ticketed they can either pay for the ticket or appeal it. Students have 15 days to appeal the ticket. After three tickets a car will be booted, according to Public Safety.
"It's a continuation of what we've always done, we're just trying to be more effective," Newman said.

AU students to participate in 30-hour famine
As part of the World Vision national program to raise awareness and money about global hunger, Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship and the Community Action and Social Justice League will hold a 30-hour famine this weekend.
The event, which starts on Friday at noon and ends Saturday at 6 p.m., includes events like poetry and open mic night and a Saturday service project in southeast D.C.
The "End the Fast" celebration will occur Saturday at 5 p.m. with opportunities to learn about organizations that meet the needs of the community and to eat.
"I'm excited about it," said Alan Boswell, a freshman in the School of Public Affairs and organizer of the event. "It's nice to see different groups getting involved in a cause."
