Dear Editor:
In the April 14 issue of The Eagle on Page 4, there is an editorial called "Remembrance Week: never forget." I have no beef with this article and completely agree with its content and message. The only problem I have is that this article mentioned every genocide of the 20th century except the first genocide of the 20th century, the Armenian genocide. I thought it should have been included, considering the Armenian genocide was one of the two examples Raphael Lenkin used to coin the word "genocide." Once again I do not wish to discredit Remembrance Week, but considering April 24 marks the anniversary of the Armenian genocide, which began on April 24, 1915, I was looking for some sort of mention of this tragic event. This is the only concern that I have.
The Eagle mentioned that we cannot and must "never forget." But it appears to me that you have forgotten the first genocide of the 20th century, which was that of the Armenian people. To this day Turkey denies that genocide ever took place. This is why I am concerned about its exclusion from this article.
