Tonight the General Assembly, the Student Government's legislative branch, will vote to confirm the 13 cabinet members appointed by SG executives. This is the second of a two-part series profiling cabinet officials.
Director of Artemas Ward Week, Jordan T. Landry
Policy: Next year we are in a really good position to have an amazing Artemas Ward Week that will hopefully bring together the entire campus. By having the festival toward the end of September, not only can we take advantage of the beauty of the campus during autumn, but by beginning planning now, we will be able to provide students with entertainment of a much higher quality and a festival for the new freshmen to remember.
Personal: I do not give out personal information.
Director of Design, Jen Morrissey
Policy: Less is more.
Personal: In my free time, I enjoy long walks on the beach and saving small kittens from fires.
Director of Information Technology, Ben Murray
Policy: The main focus of DOIT will be to create a new, fully interactive and dynamic Web space that will have easy access to all departments, events and guides to student life. It will go far beyond the Web sites of the past and will actually offer help to students seeking answers. It will serve as the main source of information for all campus activities and programs that matter to students.
Personal: I make a mean PB&J and strongly believe that Godiva dark chocolate ice cream will solve all the world's ills.
Director of Spring Fling, Dan Nagelberg
Policy: We are moving Artemus Ward Week to the fall next year and bringing back Spring Fling as the program(s) of choice to help relax the general student body before it succumbs to the pressures of studying for spring finals. Working under the VP's cabinet, we will really promote the hell out of the activities to get a large student body turnout.
Personal: I'm a member of the swim team here at AU.
Director of Eagle Nights, Jaclyn Pulice
Policy: As Eagle Nights director, I hope to generate more school spirit and unity among American University's student body. I will do my best to provide a variety of creative, fun and interesting Eagle Nights Programs for AU students to anticipate attending.
Personal: I'm a loud-mouthed, left-handed Long Islander who loves to laugh and enjoys being involved in our campus community.
Commissioner of the AU Transportation Organization, Mohammad Khan
Policy: Our biggest aim at AUTO this year will be to make ourselves more accessible to the student body. We intend to offer a whole range of new programming, which will encourage more students to use our services. Improving efficiency is another major aim, and I'm confident with the support of my staff we will meet and exceed all our goals.
Personal: I'm currently in my second year at the Kogod School of Business. I enjoy playing/watching soccer and exploring the amazing city that Washington, D.C., is.
Director of the Student Advocacy Center, Benjamin Turner
Policy: I hope to educate the students on the alcohol and drug policies of the University so that they can avoid ever coming into my office.
Personal: For three years I have advocated for students through my work as an editor and writer for benladner.com, and I hope to continue to help students through this new medium. Besides, when I'm not boozin', I want to make sure other students can.
