Campus Brief: Students help at animal refuge

The American University Animal Rights Effort worked at the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Poolesville, Md., last Friday. AUARE cleaned the 400-acre sanctuary, played with the 120 animals housed there and enjoyed a vegan lunch.

According to the sanctuary's Web site, www.animalsanctuary.org, its mission is to "offer care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for neglected, abandoned or unwanted farm animals, provide protected habitat for wildlife, furnish information to the public regarding farm animal and wildlife issues and promote compassion and humane treatment for all animals."

The Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary houses famous animals as well. Alice the turkey has become the sanctuary's mascot and has appeared on Animal Planet'


Section 202 host Gabrielle and friends go over some sports that aren’t in the sports media spotlight often, and review some sports based on their difficulty to play.
