Police Blotter: Jan. 12-18

Wednesday, Jan. 12

At 12:33 a.m. Public Safety took an informational report regarding an offensive message written on a Resident Assistant's white board hanging on the door.

At 1:48 a.m. Public Safety took an informational report in the McKinley building regarding a female student who left power tools in an art classroom. The tools were left in the room since Dec. 20, 2004.

Thursday, Jan. 13

Graffiti was reported in the men's bathroom of Mary Graydon Center at 8:31 a.m. The graffiti was scratched into the mirror and resembled a naked woman. Physical Plant Operation repaired the damage.

A male student reported a lost cell phone in Mary Graydon Center.

A TDR employee slipped and hurt her back and arm in the TDR kitchen at 8:30 p.m. She was transported by Bethesda Chevy Chase medical services to Howard Hospital.

A resident assistant in Anderson Hall reported drug usage at 11:30 p.m. after smelling marijuana. Public Safety found six students in a room with a marijuana grinder and substance that tested positive for marijuana. All items were confiscated.

Friday, Jan. 14

An auto accident involving an AU-owned shuttle bus and a private vehicle was reported at 49th and Yuma streets adjacent to the Washington College of Law. A private car was trying to pass the AU bus on its left side. The vehicle struck the AU bus and the operator reported it at 11:12 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 15

An intoxicated student required a hospital transport at 1:17 a.m. The student was transported to Suburban Hospital by Bethesda Chevy Chase medical services.

At 2:13 a.m. Public Safety took an informational report in Letts Hall after a roommate thought a white powder in her room was drugs. Public Safety tested the substance, which tested negative for drugs.

At 3:16 a.m. an AU student reported an off-campus assault against his friend, another AU student. They were at a fraternity house at the time.

A car was reported vandalized at 4:55 p.m. after it was discovered that somebody tried to rip the grill off the car.

A male student who returned to his car in Centennial garage found three flat tires at 9:54 p.m. No obvious tire slashes were found.

Two female students were attending a sorority meeting in Anderson Hall and left their purses in a room for another sorority sister to watch. Upon returning to the room, the purses were gone. The purses were later found with cash and earrings missing. The thefts were reported at 10:41 p.m. and 10:57 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 16

A male student reported an emergency in Hughes Hall at 3:19 a.m. Public Safety responded to find the student intoxicated, but he refused treatment and a medical transport to a hospital.

Two female students reported an unlawful entry in Letts Hall at 4:05 a.m., saying a male student entered their room on the second floor and got into bed with one of the students and fell asleep. Public Safety responded and determined the male student was intoxicated and inadvertently entered the wrong room, thinking it was his. The male student lives in the same number room, but on a different floor. No unwanted touching was reported and the male student returned to his room.

At 6:08 p.m. a stuck elevator was reported in McDowell Hall. The D.C. Fire Department and Physical Plant Operations were notified and they freed one student from the elevator.

A hospital transport was needed from Hughes Hall at 9:45 p.m. after a female student fell ill due to medication she had taken. She was escorted to Sibley Hospital.

Monday, Jan. 17

At 4:52 a.m. Public Safety responded to a report of two males in McDowell Hall knocking on second-floor doors and asking for sexual favors from female residents. Public Safety stopped the students who denied doing it at first, but soon admitted to asking for sexual favors.

A fire alarm was reported at 6:35 a.m. in the Brandywine building after the temperature rose and triggered the alarm.

At 9:54 a.m. the bookstore reported fraud by a male student. The student was observed on a security camera entering the store without books. He then went to the book return desk and returned books that he did not have when he entered.

Tuesday, Jan. 18

A female student needed a medical transport from Letts Hall after having severe cramps and vomiting, which she reported at 4:09 p.m. Bethesda Chevy Chase medical services transported her to Sibley Hospital.

A female student required a medical transport after she reported that she twisted her ankle while walking through the tunnel at 11:17 p.m. Bethesda Chevy Chase medical services transported her to Sibley Hospital.

A female student reported a theft in Bender Library at 12:11 a.m. after she returned from a copy machine and found her backpack had been stolen.


Section 202 host Gabrielle and friends go over some sports that aren’t in the sports media spotlight often, and review some sports based on their difficulty to play.
