Kanneth, Trombley plan new cabinets

SC officers appoint SUB, KPU directors

Newly inaugurated President Polson Kanneth and Vice President Jason Trombley have appointed their new cabinet members for the upcoming 2004-2005 school year of the Student Confederation, AU's student government.

The president's cabinet's duties are primarily policy issues, such as external and academic affairs, Kanneth said. The vice presidential cabinet's main focus is on programming, such as Founder's Day and Eagle Nights.

Kanneth's new cabinet appointments include Jeremy Holt as chief of staff, Emily Fuller as Kennedy Political Union director, James Gardner as Student Advocacy Center director, Aram Richard as Student Union Board director, Manan Shah as External Affairs director, Chris Ying as Academic Affairs director, Sarah Mashburn as Women's Initiative director and Monique Toussaint as Diversity Action Team director.

"My cabinet will accomplish a lot of work over the summer, such as dealing with Public Safety, financial aid and parking issues," Kanneth said. "We also plan to show the incoming freshmen that we are here to take care of any issues they may have."

Trombley's cabinet consists of Chief of Staff Anthony Fortunato, Eagle Nights Director Katie Keogh, Community Service Director Tom Leiby and Artemas Ward Festival Director Kimberly Bowen.

"My administration also plans to incorporate a lot of my former opponents', such as 'Big' Steve Gilbert and Matt Miller's, ideas into the SC," Kanneth said. "We will first focus on our ideas and then invite the other SC presidential candidates to help out and be active members of the SC."

All cabinet appointees must be approved by the General Assembly, the undergraduate student-body legislature, through a series of committee hearings and an open vote of the GA. The votes are expected to be held before the end of the year.
