Project team works to analyze AU Triangle

A subcommittee of the General Assembly, AU's student body legislature, will meet tonight with members of a University project team, an administrative group, to look into what many have dubbed AU's "Bermuda Triangle."

The team will look into three University offices - student accounts, financial aid and the registrar's office - that students have difficulty navigating.

"We simply need more communication between the three departments," said Nick Terzulli, Student Confederation president. "It will help students solve their problems a lot faster."

All too often students find themselves caught up in the bureaucratic inefficiencies of the departments, said Marc Malon, chair of the GA's University Adminstrative Review Committee.

"Ultimately, by fixing this problem of no communication, AU will better serve its students," Terzulli said.

The project team is chaired by Nathan Price, special assistant to the provost.

AUTO transports help students save money

The AU Transportation Organization saved students $1,500 dollars over winter break as AUTO vans, now adorned with decals showing their involvement with the Student Confederation, transported students to area airports. Fifty-seven students took advantage of the service over a four-day span.

"We saw a huge number of students interested in our services and realized that we had the opportunity to save people a great deal of money during their trips home for the holidays," said AUTO Commissioner William Prouty in a press release.

AUTO is a student-run organization that is funded by student activity fees.

"It is important for students to know where their money goes and how it is being used," said Prouty. "As the AUTO commissioner, I felt it was important to convey to the students that AUTO is first and foremost a service dedicated to serving them."

This past weekend, AUTO held runs to Target in Crystal City on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m..
