LASO connects students, Aramark

The Latin and American Student Organization (LASO) recently started a program partnering AU student volunteers with Aramark workers to help them improve their English. Community Learners Advancing Spanish and English (CLASE), an offshoot of LASO, was a result in combining volunteers, participants and orchestration by Aaron Montenegro, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, who put the club together in order to help Aramark workers with speaking English.

McCardell calls for lower drinking age

Choose Responsibility President John McCardell said during a Kennedy Political Union event Tuesday that he was not fazed by AU President Neil Kerwin's decision to not sign on to the Amethyst Initiative. McCardell, a former Middlebury College president, drafted the Amethyst Initiative, an effort by college presidents to reconsider lowering the drinking age in each state from the current age limit of 21.

AUCC to evaluate budget requests

In the next few weeks, the AU Club Council will release its 2008-2009 budget, which will affect the activities of more than 200 clubs and organizations on campus for the rest of the academic year. AUCC Chair Alex Livingston said the AUCC will distribute between $130,000 and $150,000 in university funds.
