Talent, not morals, dictate Michael Vick’s return to football

On Monday Night Football last week, as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Pop Warner Redskins, the announcers began a conversation about Michael Vick’s return to the NFL. They discussed Eagles’ Head Coach Andy Reid’s decision to give Vick a second chance, mentioning that both of Reid’s sons have dealt with their own legal troubles over the last few years. While that makes for a nice story, it is naïve to think that the Philadelphia QB was signed as some sort of social statement.

Guard Wayne Simon II and forward Tony Wroblicky are a freshman dynamic duo for the men’s basketball team. Simon and Wroblicky are the only two freshman on the team. While they are teammates on the court and good friends off the court, they couldn’t be more different.

The third-seeded AU men’s soccer team started off its Patriot League tournament by surprising No. 2 Lehigh on Friday night, but fell in the championship game to No. 4 Bucknell at Colgate’s Doren Field in Hamilton, N.Y.

AU athletic attendance has increased this year, bringing in record-breaking crowds at men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey and women’s volleyball games.

This week proved that eight really is the AU Field Hockey team's lucky number. Nov. 5, the Eagles won the Patriot League title for the eighth year running, this time with a record-setting 14 goals. The Eagles will move on to the NCAA play-in game against Kent State on Tuesday.
