Tennis opens at Thorn tourney

The Women's Tennis Team opened its fall season in respectable form at the Martha Thorn Invitational Tournament in Morgantown, W.Va., this past weekend. Playing in singles and doubles against opponents from other universities, the Eagles posted several strong showings, led by senior Katarina Kollarova's remarkable trip to the tournament finals for her group.

NFC down, AFC to go

The NFL kicked off with the NFC last Thursday as the Washington Redskins took on the New York Jets. Now it is time to turn attention to the AFC with whom to watch and who will go all the way. The AFC is a much harder conference to decipher than the NFC, but here are my picks: the Miami Dolphins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Tennessee Titans, the Oakland Raiders, the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens.
