Eagles fall to Michigan in tournament final

Despite losing to the Michigan Wolverines 3-1 in the final of the Manhattan Volleyball Invitational on Sunday, AU coach Barry Goldberg and the volleyball squad left New York City confident that they can play with elite national competition.

Eagles start season on right footing

The AU women's soccer team beat a gritty Mount St. Mary's 3-2 in its season opener Tuesday at Reeves Field. But while the Eagles won, their performance displayed both their offensive firepower and their defensive inconsistency. Senior forward Maha Elnabawi scored a dramatic game-winner with five minutes left to finally secure a victory after numerous chances.

Shagin shows promise at U.S. Amateur

Soccer stripped down during offseason

But after a crazy, volatile and ultimately disappointing season last year, an older, wiser but depleted squad is taking things one step at a time. "The only expectation I've given these guys," said AU head coach Todd West, "is to work harder than everyone else, and to play as a team."

Volleyball team looks to extend PL win streak

Having amassed a 49-0 Patriot League record over the past three years, it comes as no surprise that the AU volleyball team is again expected to be the class of the league in 2004. Despite the graduation of 2003 All-American and three-time Patriot League Player of the Year Karla Kucerkova, 15-year veteran coach Barry Goldberg and his players have spent the past year focused on continuing their league dominance and breaking onto the national scene.
