Eagles strike blow to Colgate and fly to top in league standings

·

While the field hockey and Women's soccer teams have dazzled AU fans with their superb seasons, the Men's Soccer team has quietly been building momentum and a Patriot League lead. In Hamilton, N.Y., on Saturday night, the Eagles kept on building, riding junior midfielder Ryan Boyd's first goal of the year to a 1-0 away win over PL rivals Colgate.

Sideline Scholars: Eagles are a little more than No. 7

·

By the time you wake up, they have practiced for close to three hours, spent time in the training room and probably already made it in and out of TDR. They are AU's seventh-ranked Field Hockey team. Not No. 7 on the East Coast or in the region - in the nation. To make that more real, Florida State is the No. 7 football team in the nation and Duke is the preseason men's basketball No. 7.

AU destroys Davidson

·

The No. 7 AU Field Hockey team dominated its opponents in terms of shots and offensive pressure this weekend. But while the Eagles outplayed both Davidson and Lehigh, the 5-0 and 3-1 wins showed signs of a team that is heading toward greatness, but hasn't yet arrived.

AU scores first-ever win on Crusaders

David Marut probably didn't think he'd have to wait until mid-October to score his first two goals of the season. But after Saturday's performance, the senior forward probably won't complain. Marut's first two goals couldn't have come at a better time, sparking the AU Men's Soccer team's 5-1 rout of Patriot League rival Holy Cross, who, until Saturday, had never lost to AU. The Crusaders now lead the series, 3-1-1.

Volleyball goes 2-1 on week after close loss to Georgetown

AU volleyball dominated two Patriot Leage opponents over the weekend, only to fall to hometown rival Georgetown in five games last night. Despite not playing what coach Barry Goldberg said was his team's sharpest volleyball, the Eagles managed to remain unbeaten (5-0) in the Patriot League and extend their PL win streak to an astounding 53 matches.
