By KEVIN HILGERS Eagle Staff Writer If things had gone as planned earlier this spring, the AU Golf team might have entered this weekend's Patriot League championship with its off-the-course situation on its mind. But now, with the team ensured one more year of play before its elimination, the Eagles can head to the Bucknell University Golf Course with their minds on something else: its first PL championship and trip to the AU finished the spring with two strong finishes after taking first at the Lafayette Invitational and second at George Washington's Bethany Beach Invitational.

Keeping payers, players separate

By now everyone has seen the tape. New York Yankee Gary Sheffield goes to get the ball from in front of the bleachers and is "interfered with" by a fan at Boston's Fenway Park. Sheffield semi-retaliates, but the incident is thwarted before it escalates. Major League Baseball has said it will probably not take action against Sheffield, and the fan also will not be punished.

For Field Hockey, home turf finally in sight

The AU Women's Field Hockey team already appears headed in the right direction. With a second straight berth in the NCAA tournament last year, an appearance in the quarterfinals and an all-time-high No. 7 rank nationally, next year holds surreal promise for a team bursting with youth.

'Gate drops AU lax, 13-8

There was a positive vibe building up for the AU Women's Lacrosse team's home match Saturday against first-place Colgate. AU had just come off a strong showing in a loss to No. 11 Johns Hopkins, and pregame workouts left everyone eager to play. After a lengthy postgame lecture from coach Ashley Flanigan that transformed into a conference between her and team leaders, it was clear that Saturday's 13-8 loss to the Red Raiders sucked out that positive feeling - not to mention a shot at playing the Patriot League championship in Washington.
