Not bad, but I wasn't exactly drooling. My other friends were otherwise engaged, so I figured there wouldn't be any harm in dancing with him.

Madness nears for PL, D.C.

Although the AU men's basketball team's season ended last weekend with a loss to Bucknell in the Patriot League semifinals, for 65 teams, Sunday will mark the beginning of a new season as the brackets for the NCAA tournament will be released. Although the recipient of the PL's automatic bid will not be decided until Friday's tournament final, it is possible the league PL will have more than one team in the tournament.

Professor promotes book on Sri Lankan conflict

Student and faculty gathered in the Battelle-Tompkins atrium to hear SIS Professor John Richardson speak about his book, "Paradise Poisoned," about Sri Lanka's civil war on Tuesday. The night included a panel, moderated by SIS Dean Louis Goodman, which discussed Richardson's book.

DeLay wins renomination in Texas Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) won the Republican nomination in his House reelection bid Tuesday, beating three challengers in his first election since he was indicted and forced to step aside as majority leader, according to The Washington Post.

The campus bookstore has begun offering e-textbooks, which allow you to read course materials on your computer. While it may be convenient and sometimes cheaper, e-textbooks would require you to print out pages if you want to take them with you, and this makes highlighting and marking tedious.

Metro brief: New Metro voice introduced

Randi Miller, the new voice of the Metro, was heard for the first time Thursday in several newly recorded announcements intended to keep riders moving through the system, NBC4 reported Thursday. Miller, a Virginia resident, won a contest last month crowning her the new voice of the Metro.

Second-half buries AU lacrosse

The AU women's lacrosse team fell to Old Dominion on Saturday, losing to the Lady Monarchs, 14-12, in a home contest at the William I Jacobs Recreational Complex. The loss marks the Eagles' second in their first two games after losing to Towson last Wednesday in their season opener.

Mr. American pageant ends RHA Hall Wars

Two weeks of intra-campus competition ended on stage Friday night as Mr. 2009, Jeff Lambert, was named the winner of the Mr. American Pageant, the final event in the 2005-2006 Hall Wars, hosted by the Residence Hall Association. "Two weeks ago, I declared the north side of campus to be at war with the south side of campus," said Will Mount, RHA president.

Staff editorial: S. Dakota abortion law start of showdown

Last week, South Dakota's legislature passed a ban on abortion, except in the case of the life of the mother. There are no exceptions for rape or incest, and doctors face up to five years in prison for performing an abortion. Newspapers have also chronicled how the abortion dividing lines are being drawn increasingly according to the Red State/Blue State electoral map.

AU has big work ahead if it wants to win PL

The future for the AU men's basketball team should be bright, with all five starters returning next year and a freshman class that contributed significantly to the team. However, Sunday's 64-50 loss at Bucknell exposed some problems that the Eagles need to fix if they are to be one of the elite teams in the Patriot League next season.
