The first ever “Black Restaurant Week” kicks off in DC

This week featured the launch of the first ever “DMV Black Restaurant Week,” an opportunity for D.C. to spotlight the important contributions of black-owned cuisine and hospitality. Similar to traditional Restaurant Week models, participating restaurants have put forward a prix fixe meal special, and other businesses—such as coffee shops and fast food spots—has offered discounts on various menu items.



How AU students reacted to the 2018 midterm results Tuesday night

As midterm election results rolled in on Tuesday night, AU’s student-run political organizations, as well as the School of Public Affairs, hosted watch parties that attracted students of varying political and geographical backgrounds. The Eagle sent reporters to speak with students about the issues that brought them to the polls, the races they were following and their experiences with voting this election cycle.











Hippo Campus releases a rush of dopamine at the 9:30 Club

Starry, white light mingled with crooning, crisp vocals to create an ethereal mood in the dimly lit 9:30 Club. The atmospheric indie-pop outfit Hippo Campus entranced a sold-out crowd on Oct. 24. Donning a flowy, wine-colored blouse straight out of a Duran Duran music video, lead singer Jake Tuppen overwhelmed the crowd with his crisp, unique vocals that outshined every other instrument onstage.
