The American University lacrosse team (5-11) lost to the No. 22 Navy Midshipmen (13-5) on April 24 by a score of 17-5 at Jacobs Field. It was the team’s final game of the regular season, as they failed to qualify for the Patriot League Championship Tournament.

On a Thursday afternoon this spring, Elliot Gerson and Jessica Herzstein sat in the conservatory of their multi-million-dollar Spring Valley home, discussing the upcoming wedding of their daughter.
“I’m really hoping there’s no game that day,” Herzstein said, gazing out the window toward Jacobs Field, and beyond that, American University. As of April 2024, you can’t see either, because there’s a 15-foot-tall highway-grade noise barrier separating the couple from the University across the way.

Duane Simpkins has signed a contract extension to serve as American University’s men’s basketball coach through the 2029-2030 season, the University’s athletics department announced Friday. Simpkins’ signing comes after he was suggested for the head coaching job at his alma mater, the University of Maryland.
