Ireland native Professor Declan Fahy has been teaching science journalism and science in popular culture in AU’s Journalism Department for five years. His book “The New Celebrity Scientists” will be published next February. Fahy’s love for immersing himself in powerfully ambient music has drawn him to composers and bands like Interpol. GTA is a DJ club music duo from Miami, Florida. The duo’s “Death to Genres” style, which fuses different genres into their mixes, has toured with superstars such as Rihanna and Calvin Harris. They have also performed at music festivals such as Ultra, EDC Las Vegas, and Coachella. The Eagle spoke to the duo before they opened up for Skrillex at his Oct. 24 Echostage performance.

An interesting group of people lined up at the Black Cat on Oct. 5. From punks to indie fans to metalheads, Ex Hex attracted a diverse audience to its show, not only in terms of music fans, but also in age, with attendants ranging from teens to borderline seniors. Having been together for little over a year, it is impressive that these girls have already established such a wide fan base.

Blue lights flashed, illuminating the stage. Three women, who were spotted earlier overlooking the stage from the balcony, descended upon it dressed impeccably in cheerleaders uniforms. One took the drums, the other picked up an electric guitar and the third took center stage. It is the third that stood out the most, in her high white gogo boots, crazy brunette hair and sparkling tiara. She makes the crowd illuminate, cheer and fistbump.
