The American University men’s basketball team (17-15) fell to No 6. Lafayette College (11-22) in the Patriot League semifinals despite overcoming a 21-point deficit to force two overtimes. Losing by 8 in the second overtime, the Eagles’ season came to an end with a score of 84-76.

After Adam Kaplan and Ross Mallor met in their first year at American University in 1993, they spent the next four years following the men’s basketball team, attending every game while they were students, regardless of the team’s success. Thirty years later, the two still follow the Eagles just as closely.

Escapism can be found everywhere; however, it doesn’t seem to be a main topic of conversation in the world of sports. It is overwhelming to think that in almost everything we do, we can escape within the activity itself into some imaginative state. Depending on the person, escapism can be either positive, negative, or both, depending on how often and why they are choosing to escape their reality. According to American University runner Ana Keene, escapism can be productive when one’s intentions align with good reasoning.

The American University men’s basketball team (15-12) matched up against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (15-12) on Saturday for senior day at Bender Arena, losing a close game 62-59 despite almost coming back from a 14-point deficit.

The American University wrestling team (7-11) lost to the Binghamton Bearcats (5-12) in their Feb. 17 dual at Bender Arena (19-13). Before the meet, the team honored its five seniors and graduate students in their final home dual of the season. The supporter crowd was large at 350 attendees, likely thanks to the raffle for SZA concert tickets.
