I have never been to a movie where barf bags have been supplied, but that all changed with “Raw.” This French-Belgian horror film is about an innocent girl trying to adjust to the tumultuous life of veterinarian school. Directed by French director Julia Ducournau, it has won many awards in film festivals throughout Europe.

Veteran Iranian director Asghar Farhadi returns this year with “The Salesman,” a nuanced portrayal of one couple’s struggle to come to terms with a brutal assault. Emad (Shahab Hosseini), a high school English teacher, and his wife Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) balance rehearsals for their parts as leads in Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman” with their move into a new apartment. I’m going to start this by saying I’m dismayed I have to even write this, however, the recent events on American University’s campus and across this nation have frankly shocked me – and I am not easily distressed. For many Americans, Tuesday was supposed to be a continuation of the last eight years under President Obama. For others, it was supposed to be an upheaval of the political elite. Whichever way you look at the results of Tuesday’s election, we have to live with it. However, I am not here to discuss why one candidate won over the other, or why this or that happened. I am addressing the events on Wednesday afternoon outside of the Mary Graydon Center on the main quad.

A long walk in the dark led me to the Kreeger Building, the venue for AU Rude Mechanical’s Variety Show: Dystopia. Situated in the back of campus, Kreeger is typically one of the buildings that few students realize exists, much less can find; however, as home to many of the Rude Mechanical’s productions, it is a spot to keep in mind.

There are a lot of things you can do to receive a conduct violation at our university.
