Wrestlers Curry and Fitzpatrick fall in the first round of 2021 NCAA DI Wrestling Championship

Despite the heart they showed, American University wrestlers Tim Fitzpatrick (174 pounds) and Gage Curry (125 pounds) both had first-round exits at the 2021 NCAA DI Wrestling Championships. The odds were stacked against Fitzpatrick and Curry, who were seeded 28th and 27th, respectively. Fitzpatrick lost to 5th-seeded Michigan wrestler Logan Massa while Curry lost to 6th-seeded Jakob Camacho of NC State. 

Bucknell stuns AU volleyball, split series to start season

American University volleyball fell to Bucknell Sunday night, losing in five sets with scores of 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21 and 11-15. The Eagles’ loss to Bucknell was its second-ever loss to the program and its first since 1996. As the figurative doormat of the Patriot League for the past decade, Bucknell has had an in-conference record of 47-107 since 2010.

Wrestlers Fitzpatrick and Curry place third at EIWA Championships, Clarke out due to COVID protocols

AU wrestlers Tim Fitzpatrick (174 pounds) and Gage Curry (125 pounds) both finished in third place at the EIWA Championships Friday and will now advance to the NCAA Championships. Fitzpatrick, a redshirt sophomore, went 3-1 before placing third due to Lehigh wrestler Jake Logan’s medical forfeit. Fitzpatrick was seeded seventh to open the day and improved from last year's tournament, where he finished eighth.

AU wrestling preview: New interim head coach looks to guide young team through adversity

Last season, American University wrestling finished ninth of 17 teams at the EIWA Championships, earning six place-winners and three automatic NCAA qualifiers. While it was a solid season for AU wrestling, it marked the first time AU ranked below eighth at the event since the 2014-15 season. 

BREAKING: Wrestling coach Teague Moore departs from program, former AU wrestler thrust into role

American University wrestling head coach Teague Moore has left the program after nine seasons with the team, according to a press release sent out by the Athletic Department Thursday night. Former AU wrestler Jason Grimes, who graduated in 2017 and has been working as a business assistant in the athletic department, will act as the interim coach for a freshman-heavy roster during the pandemic.
