Internships are an integral part of the American college experience. At American University, that importance is magnified given our location, our signature ‘Wonk Culture’ and the type of student the University attracts. The impact that the coronavirus has caused on the internship scene in 2020 cannot be understated, but what is not yet known is how long this impact will last. Now that workplaces and students alike have tested the remote internship model, we can speculate on whether or this format will become standard practice, and evaluate its pros and cons.

After a 27-day layoff from any in-game competition, the American University men’s basketball team (2-5) took the floor in Bender Arena Saturday afternoon against Navy (13-2, 10-1), beginning a two-game series against one of the best teams in the Patriot League. That layoff included a 10-day shutdown due to an increase in the department’s positivity rate.

President Joe Biden announced major additions to his administration’s climate agenda over the course of the previous week. After ordering the United States’s reentry into the Paris Climate Agreement on his first day in office, Biden issued a multipart executive order that promises a significant reduction in fossil fuel emissions, an investment in sustainable infrastructure, more jobs in the renewable energy sector and many more actions to fight climate change.
