1. National Cherry Blossom Festival: National Kite Festival
What: Witness the spectacle of Rokkaku, a japanese kite game where participants fight in gladiatorial kite battles for supremacy, on the National Mall for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

2. Fallujah: A Staged Reading at Kennedy Center’s World Stages 2014
What: A contemporary opera about the human and social effects of the Iraq War on individuals who feel the repercussions of the occupation the most.

3. Eighties Mayhem at the Black Cat
What: A-ha, Boy George and Prince all have two things in common: great hair and peaking in the ‘80s. The Black Cat continues its peculiar proclivity for strange theme nights.

4. Michio Kaku, author of The Future of the Mind at Politics & Prose
What: Michio Kaku, theoretical physicist at the City College of New York, is enthusiastic about science. He’ll be at Politics & Prose to discuss his new book “The Future of the Mind.”

5. River City Extension at Sixth & I Synagogue
What: Eight member indie rock ensemble have an unmistakable sound to their fans. They’ll be at the Sixth & I Synagogue to satiate their hunger for more music.

6. Garry Winogrand at the National Gallery of Art
What: Garry Winogrand was one of the most predominantly well known street photographers in his heyday during the postwar era in America. The National Gallery of Art has curated a selection from his large body of work.

8. Pentatonix at DAR Constitution Hall
What: Acapella group Pentatonix are a Youtube sensation who’ve covered artists from Daft Punk to Macklemore. They’ll be at the DAR Constitution Hall to go hard with their vocal acrobatics.

9. Hair at the Keegan Theatre
What: There will be some split ends at the Keegan Theatre when the musical “Hair” goes into an extended run. Enjoy it while it lasts because the show will be sheared from the schedule on April 17.

10. Mack Wilds at the Howard Theatre

11. Green Snake at the Kennedy Center
What: The National Theatre of China will premiere their adaptation of a chinese myth about two goddesses and the humans they are involved with who find themselves in moral quandaries.

12. Bring It On!: The Musical at the Strathmore
What: Give me an M. Give me an U. Give me a S, I, C, A, L. The cheertastic film turned broadway spectacle about cheerleading is coming to the music center at Strathmore for a run on its tour.

13. Maz Jobrani at the Warner Theatre
