1. Laura Lippman at Politics & Prose
What: New York Time’s bestselling author Laura Lippman comes to D.C.’s Politics & Prose for her new book “After I’m Gone.” Beer and wine will be available.

2. The Wedding Dress at Spooky Action Theatre
What: Playwright Nelson Rodrigues is the Tennessee Williams of Brazil. Spooky Action Theatre has revived one of his haunting works for the stage in “The Wedding Dress.”

3. PieFest at The Brixton
What: Enjoy unlimited samples from D.C.’s finest pie makers at The Brixton.

4. Ella Fitzgerald, First Lady of Song at the MetroStage
What: Ella Fitzgerald, Georgiana, Fitzgerald’s cousin and jazz musician Norman Granz tells the story of Fitzgerald’s climb from being a homeless street dancer to the highest echelons of music history.
When: Through Mar. 16

5. History and Hops at The Heurich House
What: The third Tuesday of the month is always a great time to hop on down to The Heurich House and learn about its late-Victorian origins.
When: Feb. 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

6. Cryfest: The Cure vs. The Smiths Dance Party at The Black Cat
What: The Black Cat can host some wildly peculiar events, but this one seems straight out “The Crow.” $10 to feel unpredictable emotions you haven’t felt since you were six is a small price to pay for a great night out.
When: Feb. 21. Doors at 9:30 p.m.

7. Cyclon Happy Hour at The Black Cat
What: Watch an episode of “Battlestar Galactica” at The Black Cat while relaxing to a variety of different mixed drinks

8. DC Loves Dilla at the U Street Music Hall
What: J. Dilla’s legacy in hip-hop and underground rap is almost too immense to list, but there’s a tribute bash going down at U Street Music Hall with proceeds going to the J. Dilla Foundation.
When: Feb. 23 at 9 p.m.

9. Curren$y with Ty Dolla $ign and Db Bantino at The Fillmore Silver Spring
What: Curren$y is young rapper from Louisiana whose rhymes recall the workhouse flows of an older generation. Those who enjoy wordsmiths from Rakim to Kendrick Lamar will find plenty to enjoy here.
When: Thursday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m.

10. The Kaufman Collection of American Furniture at the National Gallery of Art
What: A gallery talk featuring Diane Stephens, a staff lecturer will talk about the “Masterpieces of American Furniture” exhibit with Kaufman pieces from 1700-1830.

11. Law That at the Lisner Auditorium
What: A comedy show written by The George Washington University Law students consisting of two acts with live acting and video.

12. Sebastian Maniscalco at the D.C. Improv
What: Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco likes to talk about family. Big families. His act consists of highly varied reminiscences of personal history from the curious instance of Sanka as a casual beverage and medieval weaponry under couches.

13. Poetry and Prose Open Mic at The Writer’s Center
What: Test your poetry skills at The Writer’s Center open mic with other aspiring poets and writers.
