The Scene Weekender: Ice, Ice Baby

1. The Importance of Being Earnest with the Shakespeare Theatre Company
What: An vivid stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s play follows Algernon Moncrieff, a young gentleman traversing the high society of victorian England.

2. Ice skating at the Sculpture Garden
What: For couples that like to chill, the National Gallery of Art opens an ice rink through March.

3. Winter beer tasting with local historian and beer connoisseur Garrett Peck
What: Local author of “Capital Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in Washington D.C.” and historian Garrett Peck will be at Politics & Prose for a frosty tasting of winter beers.

5. Amel Larrieux: Come Be Our Valentine
What: Soul singer Amel Larrieux, along with The Howard Theatre, invites couples to join them for a night of music, fun and smooth R&B.

6. Delta Rae at the 9:30 Club
What: Delta Rae hails from North Carolina, but their music runs as deep as the Mississippi River. With hits like “Bottom of the River” and “If I Loved You,” they’ll be at the 9:30 Club shaking the place up.

7. Mother Courage and Her Children at the Arena Stage
What: Kathleen Turner (“Romancing the Stone”) stars as a epically humorous bon vivant in a staging of Bertolt Brecht’s play “Mother Courage and Her Children.”

8. Princess Bride at the Alamo Drafthouse Arlington
What: A Valentine’s Day screening of “The Princess Bride.” Inconceivable! Loves need not quarrel during this event.

10: House of Card Season 2 on Netflix
What: Where ever you fall on the political spectrum, many can agree that “House of Cards” has provided positively succulent meat for viewers. The Netflix series returns this Valentine’s Day. Love be damned in politics, Rep. Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey, “The Usual Suspects”) is back.

11: DC Metro Chocolate Tours
What: D.C. delights are at the heart of this tour that leads guests to taste some delicious chocolate treats from various Washington, D.C. eateries.

12: Marc Chagall: Orphee at the National Gallery of Art
What: Marc Chagall, modernist and surrealist, arrived in Georgetown to visit friends, Evelyn and John Nef. Chagall left behind a large mosaic now on display at the NGA.

13. Love Songs: The Beatles
What: Expect a large set list at The Hamilton when a host of artists from The Walking Sticks to The Lofgren Brothers will take the stage for a night of love songs by The Beatles. Also in time for the 50th anniversary of the bands formation.
