On Sunday, December 4, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hotel will host Philly rockers War On Drugs, touring to promote their latest album Slave Ambient. The War on Drugs has received a flood of attention since the release of their latest album, and critics have agreed that the new deductions (Kurt Vile, two other original members) haven’t in any way damaged the quality of their newest album. In fact, their sophomore album is an upgrade to the standard classical rock lyrics and rhythms they offer on their first full-length album Wagonwheel Blues.
The crowd will be sure to hear tracks like “Best Night” and “Brothers” that surely impressed old and new listeners alike. Their themes of journeying to new and distant lands aren’t revolutionary, but their delivery is special. Songs blur throughout the album, accompanied by frontman Adam Granduciel’s sweeping, subtle lyrics. The War on Drugs make this open-road adventure better than ever.
