Top five mavericks at AU

You know, there are lots of people and things at this great university that could maverick their way in or out of nearly every ... thing. The Scene really has a way of reachin' across the aisle and takin' the best from here and there and findin' out just what's right. Below you'll find a list of the most mavericky mavericks AU's got to offer. You betcha!

1 Basketball team The mavericks on the AU basketball team truly are fine representatives of this great university abroad at other universities. Along with all the Joe Six-Packs of the fine Blue Crew, you know, I'm thinkin' that AU's mascot should just plain be the Maverick.

2 Cornelius M. Kerwin Just the name alone sets our hearts aflame. He mavericked away the mess that Ben Ladner left behind and has set his sights on improvin' this university in just about any way he can. Under the umbrella of job creation, you know, he has really taken advantage of the job created for him.

3 Those black squirrels The black squirrels you find here at AU are really somethin' special. They've got that maverick tenacity, the hoppin', the jumpin', the hidin' nuts here and there. You know what the difference between a black squirrel and a hockey mom is? Mostly the bushy tail, but also the nut gatherin'. But they're both mavericks!

4 Public Safety scooters What better way to fight the bad guys than by supporting our public safety officers and gettin' them the transportation they need? The scooters recently purchased by public safety let them get from one place to another and protect our fine university. They can nearly see Russia from atop those things!

5 Construction Workers Drill baby drill! Drill baby drill! The most maverick-esque mavericks at this university would certainly have to be the fine men and women working to improve this campus with their hard work and tenacity. The further they drill, the closer we are to bein' able to see our neighbor, China. And we gotta keep an eye on them.
