Four new techie ways to blow your mind

1. Online "Grand Theft Auto?" David Jones, the creator of "Grand Theft Auto," awarded publisher Webzen the rights to his latest creation, "All Points Bulletin," a massive multiplayer online crime game. "All Points" is a game based in living, breathing cities that will feel familiar to players, as they accurately replicate famous cities all over the world. The game is about fighting a turf war involving two main factions, the Squads, whose goal is to uphold the law, and the Gangs, who seek to break the law at all costs. Players will be able to choose their side in a classic cops-and-robbers scenario. Thousands of players will form gangs or squads all around the world and will play in hundreds of online cities. "All Points Bulletin" is not planned for release until 2007, but the game will be shown at this year's E3 gaming exposition in May.

2. The price is right for Sony PSP movies Sony announced this week the prices for movies released in the UMD format, the disc used for games and movies on PSP, Sony's upcoming handheld. "XXX," "Hellboy," "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" will all retail for $19.99 on UMD. Meanwhile, the UMD version of "The House of Flying Daggers" will retail at $28.95. These five will all appear in stores on April 19. No price has been given to "Spider-Man 2," which will be bundled with the Sony PSP when it goes on sale March 24.

3. "Tekken 5" gets release date Namco announced that "Tekken 5," the latest in the company's popular fighting series, will smash its way onto the PlayStation 2 Friday. Besides a brand-new play experience, "Tekken 5" will include the first three games in the series to celebrate the franchise's 10th anniversary. The game will be available in both a standard $49.99 version and a $99.99 bundle that includes a Hori controller specifically built for "Tekken 5" and a Tekken themed six-disc DVD case.

4. Adult Swim hits consoles in 2006 Midway signed a contract with Cartoon Network last Monday to publish five video games based on cartoons from the channel's Adult Swim segment. As its name implies, Adult Swim features cartoons intended for an older audience and is a college favorite. Midway has acquired the licenses to "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," "Space Ghost," "Harvey Birdman," "The Brak Show" and "Sealab 2021." No specific consoles were mentioned, but the first game will ship sometime in 2006.
