Caccavale named Patriot League Brine Freshman Player of the Week after ODU Men's Soccer player Salvatore Caccavale was named the Patriot League Brine Freshman Player of the Week for collecting one goal and one assist against William and Mary in the ODU/Stihl Classic.

AU demolished William and Mary, 4-1, placing them second in the tournament.

Caccavale notched the first goal off an assist from senior Brett Niebling less than three minutes into the game. Junior Shawn Kuykendall dodged his defender, passing to Niebling, who then found Caccavale in front of the net.

Additionally, Caccavale assisted on the last goal of the game. He has six shots on the season and is tied for fourth in scoring for the team with four points.

Caccavale and juniors Peter Philipakos and Charlie Koniver were named to the All-Tournament team.

Miller repeats as PL Defensive Player of the Week, adds two more shutouts For the second straight week senior goalkeeper Laura Miller was named as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.

Miller tallied two shutouts, bringing her career record to nine shutouts, this past weekend on Friday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 14.

Miller's outstanding performance between the pipes helped the Eagles defeat Pacific and Rutgers at the University of Maryland. Not to mention she has not given up a goal in over 160 minutes while achieving a 0.57 goals against average, which ranks her fourth in the nation.

Miller picked up two saves out of five shots against Pacific, never allowing the Tigers to score. Then, against Rutgers, Miller faced six shots, notching three saves.

AU (4-1-0) travels to Lafayette on Saturday at 1 p.m. for its first PL conference game of the season.
