Ron Paul to speak at AU on Nov. 14

Former Texas Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul will speak at AU on Nov. 14 in Ward 1.

The event will begin at 8:15 p.m. and is sponsored by the Kennedy Political Union.

Paul, known for his libertarian values, first ran for Congress unsuccessfully in 1974. However, Paul joined Congress a few short years later during a 1978 special election following the resignation of Representative Robert R. Casey of Texas.

Prior to his life in politics, Paul served as a doctor in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1965 and then moved to the National Guard until 1968.

KPU is confident Paul will provide AU students with good insight into libertarian values, KPU Director Chandler Thornton said.

“Dr. Ron Paul is the leading spokesman for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies,” he said.
