Eagles rumble past towson, ready for the pl tourney

The AU Field Hockey team closed its regular season with a convincing 4-1 win against the Towson Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Heidi Herschberger and freshman Denise Infante formed an attacking duo, each scoring twice for the Eagles, who improved to 16-2 on the year.

Sports Brief: Morgan State, who? Eagles dictate, dominate and destroy in Bender

Senior Natacha Cornaz led the AU Eagles Volleyball squad to a dominant 3-0 sweep of the Morgan State Bears on Tuesday night in Bender Arena. Cornaz, who has been plagued by injuries all season, tallied a career-high 18 kills. She sparked the Eagles early with six kills in eight attempts in Game 1, and finished the night with only one error in 27 swings.

Volleyball's rocky start doesn't matter

The AU Volleyball squad started the second half of the Patriot League season on the same strong footing that it started the first - by sweeping Navy, 3-0, on Thursday night in Bender Arena. Senior Erin Algaier led the Eagles with 18 kills, while junior Cutrina Biddulph produced another strong effort, contributing 14 kills in the win.

Club Sports Brief:

The AU Men's Rugby team advanced to the Potomac Rugby Union semifinals Saturday, flying past the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, 29-12, at the National Rugby Pitch on the National Mall. Kevin Gemmingen and Nick Profita broke through with first-half tries for the Eagles. Though the ensuing conversions failed after each try, the Eagles still had a commanding 10-0 lead going into halftime.




Section 202 host Gabrielle and friends go over some sports that aren’t in the sports media spotlight often, and review some sports based on their difficulty to play.
