The group plans to deliver a letter signed by concerned students that asks to have the issue addressed on teacher evaluations. While in the classroom, students can sometimes feel intimidated by professors and their viewpoints.

In four years like no other, we, the seniors of AU, were there. Imagine yourself a member of the class of 1967, just as many of our parents were: a college class that defined a generation. The Eagle wins SPJ awards

The Society of Professional Journalists announced last week that The Eagle won three regional Mark of Excellence awards for 2004. Mark of Excellence awards are given annually to college newspapers nationwide. Eagle Sports Editor Ian Quillen won second place in Region 2 for sports column writing.

'Death' descends on D.C.

Don't show up at Tuesday's Death From Above 1979 gig at the Black Cat in socks and sandals, the band's T-shirt and badly cut jeans. If you do, singer and drummer Sebastien Grainger may just punch you in the face, but that's merely speculation. He considers the above ensemble to be a "don't," a label commonly doled out by Vice Magazine, an edgy publication housed by the band's record label.

Opinion: Facts don't take sides in debate

Students may have noticed the blue and pink flags that took up a perfectly good sunbathing area on the Quad last Thursday. These flags were part of the "Cemetery of the Innocents" that was sponsored by AU Students for Life. Each flag signified one of the 4,000 lives that are lost each day through abortion.

Opinion: Evolution more than a theory

It is indeed true that we attend a private institution and thus are released from forcibly separating church doctrine from state enterprises. However, as a paying student of this University, we are entitled to a certain standard of academic integrity, which excludes Biblical references as credible scientific sources.

Opinion: Anti-meat side chock full of inaccuracies

In the past couple of weeks I have been exposed to the constant onslaught of vegetarian health claims and campaigns on the AU campus. Day after day I see signs and tables on the Quad, changes in the TDR daily menu and editorials in The Eagle hammering the ideals of vegetarians into the minds of all AU students.

Opinion: Pope must embrace change

Who said change is a bad thing? Pope Benedict XVI did throughout his tenure at the Vatican as the enforcer of the Christian doctrine. The new pope is facing a big challenge in his new position with declining membership and a lack of priests. His record of conservatism and being unable to face today's realities will only make his job harder.

Dear Editor: I attended American University's Freshmen Day on Friday. Currently, I am a high school senior in Bel Air, Md., and will soon be an Eagle. I found AU to be one of the most interesting and vibrant campuses I have visited. However, I do have to say that I have never seen so many Polo shirt-clad, pearl-wearing girls anywhere in one place.
