District court denies the University’s dismissal of race-based discrimination lawsuit

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia denied American University’s dismissal of a lawsuit by David Nakhid, a Hall of Fame soccer player at AU from the 1980s, on Monday. Nakhid sued AU for race-based discrimination in October when he was not hired as the men’s soccer team’s head coach.











Men’s head soccer coach Todd West parts ways with AU athletics

The AU athletic department declined to renew men’s soccer head coach Todd West’s contract last week, according to a department press release. West, who served as head coach for 19 seasons and led the team to nine Patriot League finals and three NCAA tournament appearances, said that he was “surprised” by the department’s decision.







What to watch out for from AU volleyball, field hockey and soccer this fall

AU’s fall sports teams have been ready to roll since early August. The field hockey team hosted a scrimmage against the University of Virginia on the newly-renovated Jacobs Complex and both men’s and women’s soccer played exhibitions on Reeves Field. The volleyball team will start their season a smidge later on Aug. 24 for their first home game against George Mason.
